Literacy Lane offers individual and small-group lessons designed to improve students’ reading and comprehension skills.
These lessons are ideal for students who are reading below grade level or who have been identified as struggling with reading fluency or naming-speed skills.
Every lesson includes interactive, multi-sensory activities that are engaging, age-appropriate, and grounded in research-based instruction. Our goal is to build confident, capable readers in a supportive and structured environment.
Lessons can be conducted either in-person or online. Online students receive the same prescribed textbook as well as a Literacy Box containing all the resources and materials needed for their lessons.

At Literacy Lane, we offer a Literacy Screening & Dyslexia Intervention services to help identify learners who may be experiencing reading and language difficulties associated with dyslexia. Early identification is an important step in ensuring that learners receive the correct support — both at school and at home.
This service is suitable for learners who:
• Are performing below grade level in reading or spelling
• Struggle to sound out words or recall letter–sound relationships
• Read slowly or guess words when reading
• Battle to copy from the board or complete written work
• Show signs of frustration, anxiety, or avoidance around reading tasks
• Have a family history of dyslexia or reading difficulties
What the Screening Involves:
Screenings are conducted in a calm, nurturing and supportive environment. After the screening process, parents receive a written feedback report outlining:
• The learner’s strengths
• Areas of concern
• Recommended support and next steps
Where appropriate, we may also recommend a full psycho-educational assessment with an educational psychologist for a formal diagnosis, in line with South African schooling requirements.
Dyslexia Intervention at Literacy Lane
For learners who present with characteristics of dyslexia, Literacy Lane offers a structured Dyslexia Intervention Plan. This plan is:
• Individualised to meet each learner’s specific needs
• Evidence-based and aligned with international best practice
• Multi-sensory, explicit and sequential in design
• Focused on building confidence, independence and resilience
Progress is carefully monitored, and parents receive regular feedback so that home and school support can work together effectively.
Important to Note
A dyslexia screening is not a formal diagnosis, but it plays a vital role in early identification and intervention. With structured support and understanding, learners with dyslexia can thrive academically and emotionally.
